About Us
Founded to be different
In the beginning, Alloro Siriano was founded in 1972 by Ghassan Nouri Asfari, Ottman Atik, and Antonio Pazzirotti. Where they used to make soap for their military service from olive trees.
The secret of our quality soap is that the ingredients used to handcraft the products are gathered from a magnificent laurel tree in a bright Mediterranean village in the Syrian north. Glossy, dark green leaves that were adorned on its branches gave off a delightful scent that wafted through the air. In addition to its beauty, this tree was cherished for the priceless leaves it produced.
Our Story
We knew it was time to gather our beloved laurel leaves as the warm spring days drew near. It was an annual ritual that brought us closer to nature, we went in search of the ideal leaves with baskets in hand and hearts full of excitement. We entered the magical grove, where a rare tall laurel tree stood with its branches reaching toward the sky. The leaves appeared to be whispering culinary secrets as the soft breeze rustled us.
We have carefully inspected the tree, looking for its healthiest leaves, looking for those vivid green gems free of damage or disease. We carefully removed the leaves from the tree, showing great reverence for its gift. We carefully detached each leaf from the stem while holding it, ensuring its secure harvest.
Some of us preferred to collect the leaves individually, appreciating the intimacy of the connection with nature. They savored the moment, relishing the scent that lingered on their fingertips with each plucked leaf. Others chose to cut entire branches from the bountiful tree, their pruning shears making precise cuts just above the leaf nodes to ensure it will grow again (just like your hair).
The air filled with laughter and camaraderie as we worked together, sharing stories, and exchanging tips on finding the most aromatic leaves. The sun danced upon our faces, and the earth beneath our feet radiated warmth, reminding us of the harmony between humans and nature.
Once we had gathered enough laurel leaves, we embarked on the next step of the process—drying. We carefully arranged the leaves or branches in a single layer, ensuring proper airflow for the drying magic to unfold. Away from direct sunlight, we placed our precious harvest in a well-ventilated area, allowing nature's gentle touch to transform the leaves.
Days turned into weeks as the leaves dried, releasing their essence into the air. We would occasionally turn them, ensuring even drying and anticipation of the moment our culinary journeys would commence.
Finally, the time came to store the dried leaves. We delicately removed any remaining stems, savoring the crinkle of the brittle leaves between our fingers. In jars and airtight containers, we preserved the leaves' flavor and aroma, keeping them safe for handmaking the best product for you.
With gratitude in our hearts, we mixed the leaves with olive oils in a heat-resistant container, poured in an enamel pot, blended with stick paddle, casted into cute molds, and then delivered to you with love for cleansing and moisturizing your gorgeous hair.
